The Pierre hotel in New York - second on top

On the second place we find another expensive house, a great hotel. The apartment that tops The Pierre hotel is more than a penthouse–it’s a mansion in the sky. The top three floors were converted into a residence in the late 1980s; they include the hotel’s original ballroom–now a stupendous salon–and 360-degree views of the city. The penthouse has five master bedrooms, seven full baths, three half baths and four terraces. It is graced with Versailles-patterned oak floors, a black-marble staircase and 18th-century English paneling. And if the price seems a bit steep, the penthouse is available in two parts–one at $59 million and the other at just $11 million. It is listed with Elizabeth Lee Sample and Brenda Powers at Brown Harris Stevens, an affiliate of Christie’s Great Estates.
Price: $70 million
Location: New York, N.Y.

Chateau Lafite - World’s Most Expensive Wine

When an enterprising young man named James Christie opened his sales rooms in London in December 1766, his first auction consisted of the estate of a “deceased nobleman” containing “a large Quantity of Madeira and high Flavour’d Claret.” The records don’t relate how much these delightfully described “high Flavour’d clarets” fetched but as the whole sale realized a grand total 175, it is a sure bet that if Christie had known that two hundred years later, in 1985, his now famous auction house would sell one bottle of wine for 105,000, or $160,000, he might have held back a bottle or two to enrich his future heirs.
This bottle was a Bordeaux, a 1787 Chateau Lafite, and, according to The Guinness Book of World Records, 18 years later it still is the world’s most expensive bottle of wine. Its great age alone would have ensured a good price but what gave it its special cachet, especially to American collectors, and ensured the record price tag were the initials Th.J. etched in the glass.

Chateau

The bottle had belonged to Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States and one of the most revered of its founding fathers. A philosopher, scientist and statesmen, the aristocratic Jefferson was also an avid oenophile. When he was ambassador to France he spent much of his time visiting the vineyards of Bordeaux and Burgundy, buying wine for his own collection and on behalf of his friends back home. He is also associated with two other bottles of very pricy wine, a 1775 Sherry ($43,500) and the most expensive white wine ever sold, a 1787 Chateau d’Yquem ($56,588).

Bugatti Veyron: Tres rapide…

The Bugatti brand is one of the automotive industry’s oldest marque’s, and it has plans to make a public and very loud comeback with what could well be the fastest production car to ever hit the blacktop.
After what seems like years of teasing us with prototypes, mock sketches and the odd mention of a 1001 brake horsepower engine, the Bugatti Veyron is finally finished and will be sold to European markets late in 2003, and America and Asia Pacific territories after that.
While the Bugatti name is essentially Italian, Carlo Bugatti (father of Ettore Buggati) left Milan for France in 1904, and the marque has since built its cars in Molsheim, France.
Today, the Bugatti name is owned by Volkswagen, and the new Veyron supercar has also been styled by the Germans, yet despite this many of the die-hard Bugatti fans are still pleased with the car’s appearance.
The Bugatti Veyron was formally announced as ready-to-go by Volkswagen in Monte Carlo recently.
The new all-wheel drive Veyron has more power than the current crop of Formula One cars, and with its massive 8.0-litre, quad turbo engine, carbon fibre-reinforced chassis and aluminium body panels, there are few cars out there today that combine such technical sophistication with a look that’s quite unorthodox, yet strangely appealing.
Price: $1,300,000

The most expensive restaurant in NY

Few places in the world offer cuisine that compares with that of New York City, home to some of the world’s greatest chefs. If you’ve got money to spend and are interested in splurging at one of New York City’s most expensive restaurants, look no further than this list. Do note: reservations are required at all of these restaurants — many of which book up a month or two in advance. Call the restaurants directly for their specific reservation policies.
Masa
There are just 26 seats in Masa, an elegantly designed Japanese restaurant in the Time Warner Center. There is no menu; all diners will spend about 3 hours having an unparalleled omakase experience.

Masa-new-york

At Masa Restaurant, what you see, hear, touch, smell, and taste all spring from the same complex sensibility - the ideas of shibui and umami.
Masa is shibui: simplicity devoid of unnecessary elements, and the honest presentation of materials.
Masa is umami: the basic essence or flavor inherent in each ingredient.
The experience begins at the arrival where diners are transported from the bustling mall into a 26-seat zen-like sushi temple. The choice of materials used to construct the dining room reflects the original beauty of nature. At the sushi counter, a heroic single slab of Japanese cypress Hinoki wood sets the performance stage. The backdrop behind the counter is a pond with a bamboo garden and a floral arrangement by Masa according to the season.

Revive Intensite Volumizing Serum

Wrinkles are not the enemy of youth. More insidious is the subtle loss of facial volume that dramatically ages a face. Volume loss could never be managed with a skincare cream…until now. ReVive introduces its most potent molecule yet, KGF (Keratinocyte Growth Factor). Intensity Volumizing Serum with KGF augments the subtle loss of facial volume and plumps trouble areas (i.e. puppet and frown lines). KGF halts the aging process by turning over dying skin cells 8 times faster and hinders DNA fragmentation. Skin is immediately dewy and vibrant. KGF’s dynamic activity allows for a molecular dialogue with underlying layers of skin that contributes to increased volume after several weeks. Whitening Tri-Complex depigments the skin eliminating blemishes and dark spots associated with aging. Powerful anti-radical defense system shields against pollution, stress and damaging UVB rays. Intensity Volumizing Serum is the optimal solution before considering or in preparation for a surgical procedure.
Made with keratinocyte growth factor, this serum is said to turn over dead skin cells eight times faster than normal skin, plumping trouble areas like frown lines and crow’s feet. Dr. Gregory Brown, ReVive’s founder and president and a plastic surgeon, says he never intended to use his research on epidermal growth factor–published in 1989 in the New England Journal of Medicine–to make a skincare line. “I started making it for my mother and me, then I started giving it to patients, and then a friend of a friend was head of Neiman Marcus and suggested I started making it for the store,” he says.
