The famous Flower Clock at Bürkliplatz, presented to Zurich by Beyer in 1985, has been given a fascinating, new summer attire. To mark the 75th anniversary of Zurich’s Succulent Plant Collection, this summer the five-metre wide clock face is decorated with a wide variety of succulent plants.
The face represents the waves of the lake, while the palm tree evokes a breath of sea air. This year too, the Flower Clock promises to be a popular photograph subject for tourists.
Zurich’s Flower Clock comprises a 70 kg, remote-controlled movement with a cast casing, set in a raised concrete bed.

The Boston Convention & Exhibition Center’s art program includes a rotating art exhibition, which features professional artists from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The first exhibit - Summer Street Solstice - demonstrated how rich and diverse the local arts community is in our area. The BCEC is a perfect backdrop to showcase local professional artists and this art program will allow us to do that in a formal way.
An art steering committee made up of four of Boston’s art, cultural and community leaders: Mary Kelley, Susan Hartnett, Ricardo Barreto and Margaret Lynch will help guide our selections and mission. Their collective experience is extraordinarily appreciated and together we will work toward establishing an art advisory committee, an exhibition schedule for more exhibitions such as Summer Street Solstice, an art lending program, and ultimately a permanent collections process plan. Our mutual commitment to raising cultural awareness and community support is the foundation upon which the art program at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center will succeed.
