Christie’s to auction Princess Margaret’s jewels

Princess-MargaretChristie’s will hold a sale of jewelry and works of art from the Collection of Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, in London on June 13 to 14. More than 800 items will be featured, with estimates ranging from $174 to $872,000. The sale will include an antique diamond riviere accompanied by three handwritten notes naming the necklace after a previous owner as the ‘Lady Mount Stephen,’ which was given to the princess by her grandmother, Queen Mary.
Another highlight is a five-row art deco pearl and diamond necklace and a marquise cut diamond ring of 5.17 carats.
The “Poltimore Tiara” which was originally created by Garrards in the 1870’s for Florence, Lady Poltimore, the wife of the second Baron Poltimore is up for auction. The princess wore it on her wedding day and prior to the wedding, she wore it in its alternative form as a diamond fringe necklace and scroll brooches.
She was the party loving Princess - who was the centre of a glittering social scene in her youth.
Now a treasure trove of jewellery owned by the Queen’s sister Princess Margaret is expected to raise millons of pounds when it goes under the hammer at auction.
The collection, which includes the diamond tiara she wore to her wedding and a valuable Faberge clock, is apparently being sold by her family to pay death duties.

P.Diddy’s houses - a luxury way of his personality

Underneath it all, celebrities may be just like the rest of us. But that doesn’t mean that behind it all–privet hedges, wrought-iron gates and watchful doormen–they live like your average American. Sure, they tend to cluster with people of like minds and incomes, just like everyone else. But that means the Malibu bluffs, Aspen slopes, Hamptons beaches and Miami waterfront. And like the rest of us, celebrities consider their homes sanctuaries. But getting a little peace and quiet can be difficult when magazines are willing to pay thousands of dollars for a shot of you shopping in your sweats or picking up the kids’ toys on the lawn.
They have a range of tastes–some like edgy modern mansions, others glass-walled penthouses or vintage estates. But unlike many of us, they can afford to indulge those desires.
Hip-hop mogul Sean “P. Diddy” Combs has a glitzy spread in Alpine, N.J., as well as a three-bedroom Manhattan condo with views of Central Park.
P. Diddy has a major mansion in Alpine, N.J., but every hip-hop mogul needs an urban home. In 2004, he paid about $5 million for his three-bedroom spread in the Park Imperial in midtown Manhattan. The apartment has exposures on three sides, including a view of Central Park, and his neighbors include music man Tommy Mottola and holistic healer and author Deepak Chopra.

Pirelli Group makes its film debut with its presentation in Rome , in the ancient atmosphere of the Diocletian Baths (400 B.C.), of the first Pirellifilm, an innovative communication project that will take place over several years and consists in the production of superb short films to be broadcast over the Internet.
Created for the worldwide promotion of the Pirelli image, which has always been acclaimed for its innovation, quality and brand leadership, this project combines Cinema and the Internet and uses them as a new communication tool that joins the instruments traditionally used by the group.
The leitmotiv of all the Pirellifilm short films will be the claim, “Power is nothing without control”, the protagonist of several of Pirelli’s famous international advertising campaigns, which will be interpreted differently each time by international film stars.
The first short film, which can be seen starting today at www.pirellifilm.com , is “The Call” starring John Malkovich and Naomi Campbell . The director is Antoine Fuqua, who directed “Training Day” and “King Arthur”. Filmed with a dark, gothic mood in a mysterious, tempting nighttime Rome , “The Call” is a breath-taking thriller of just 8 minutes and 45 seconds that depicts the eternal battle between Good and Evil.
Its “Caravaggio-like” colors and moods are obtained through skillful photography that elegantly plays with contrasting light and shadow, blending the chiaroscuro effects of the film, which was shot last fall in Rome in great secrecy to prevent the project and the name of its stars to be revealed in advance. It took five days to film on various locations - Borgo Santo Spirito, the streets of Rome , and an abandoned warehouse outside of Rome - and 4 months of post production. Nearly 120 persons worked non-stop on the set.

The DEN of NY

The Den For some New Yorkers, the mental map of Fifth Avenue tapers off in the 90s, just after the last Museum Mile-marker. But for the diehard uptown crowd, the party really doesn’t start until 125th. And by the time you’re at 132nd St, where the crimson-and-brick DEN has been holding court in Harlem since 2004, well, there’s no stopping it. This well-groomed spot (whose name stands for Dining, Entertainment and Nightlife) kicks off the weekend on Wednesday, with a high-profile open mic night that packs the cozy brownstone space booty to booty. DJs on Thursdays and Fridays mean the only way of ensuring elbow room for conspicuous sipping of your Cuervo Gold Supa Fly (or one of the two dozen specialty cocktails, with names like Wu Wu Tang or Uncle Tom Collins) is to reserve a table or return on a quieter night earlier in the week. With its down home flair, uptown flava, and attitude-free staff, DEN makes a welcoming lair for regulars and newcomers alike.

Bed Bath & Beyond most popular store in New York

Giant retail chain Bed Bath & Beyond’s sheer volume and enormous depth of inventory runs counter to most diminutive city dwellings. Where to store all the alluring Wamsutta sheets, Frette duvet covers, and Jonathan Adler ceramic bathroom accessories, not to mention the KitchenAid mixer, DeLonghi toaster, and razor-sharp Kyocera knives leaves aside the critical question of how to get all that cool loot into a cab. (Fortunately, BB&B delivers anywhere in Manhattan with summertime delivery to the Fire Island ferry and Hamptons.) True to its name, the store stocks everything you could ever need for your loo or your boudoir. And then there’s the “Beyond.” They’re not kidding. Simple Human and Umbra trashcans, California Closets organizing systems, hundreds of empty frames and framed artworks, along with window treatments, vacuums, and candles galore beckon shoppers. Seasonal items vary from beach and barbecue things in summer, dorm-room accoutrements in August and September, and holiday dcor October through December. Amazingly, that’s really just the tip of the iceberg. Do ask for help early and often: The store can be a zoo, and the soaring shelves and narrow, labyrinthine aisles (often thick with SUV-scale shopping carts) don’t help.
