Chile – Skiing down a Volcano

It might seem a bit crazy, but skiing down a volcano is not an impossible idea. Villarica – in Pucon at the heart of Chile’s long body and just north of its lake district – is one of the most active volcanoes of South America and, at 2847m, the summit promises striking 360° views of the lakes and other volcanoes in the region. While remaining at a safe distance, you can observe the lava flow at the bottom of the crater as well as head down the volcano on skis or snowboard. Make sure the guide you hire is qualified to take tours up the volcanoes, as they will make sure that you can reach the summit comfortably and safely. The Andes makes for a wild and adventurous skiing holiday and skiing down a volcano is sure to be a holiday that you won’t forget.
