Byredo Black Saffron

Byredo Black Saffron

An ode to the saffron, sacred and precious …

The niche perfume line launched by Ben Gorham, Byredo, is no stranger to raw materials with a story behind them: Gorham tries to deepen his knowledge of the culture of his ancestors with his latest release, as the prized spice of saffron has always been part of his memories of his Indian childhood: smell, taste, color—they all contribute to what is the most expensive spice in the world, handpicked stamens to garland many a dish and not only. Sacred to all Hindus, the traditional shade of the Buddhist monks’ garments and the symbol of India, saffron is potent in symbolism and rich in imagery.

Black Saffron Byredo now comes as a fragrance inspired by the idea of sublime unity. The perfume’s composition opens with a bright citrus note, with Asian grapefruit and juniper berries, softened by the wake of golden saffron.

The black violet at heart is delicately infused with leather notes, dry and suggestive. At the bottom of the fragrance pyramid the blond woods (Cashmeran) radiate warmth and harmony, punctuated by bursts of raspberry and the earthy touch of Haitian vetiver.

Byredo’s Black Saffron is available in Eau de Parfum, 140€ for 100 ml/3.4 oz.
