The creativity of high school kids really should never be underestimated. A mere glimpse at this post’s corresponding pic inspires a bit of surprise and admiration.

Of course, it would be quite a stretch to imagine that a bunch of kids built this from scratch. Alas, the truth is the whole project was funded and helped along by tire maker Bridgestone who provided the four fuel efficient Ecopa EP100 tires and a modified F1 racer ‘laminated’ with a see-through plastic chassis.

We say laminated because it’s hard to imagine how the car’s snazzy exterior contributes to its much touted electric fuel mileage. Gotta admit though, the curves and contours are pleasing to the eyes. That’s an A+ in design right there.

But wait, before anyone cries foul that this bit of news is just a well-orchestrated stunt where the kids just assembled the thing without getting their hands dirty, let’s dig deeper.

The high schoolers from DeLaSalle Kansas City, Missouri did work on the car’s innards to accomplish its performance level. The car itself got tested and managed a very impressive 300 mpg, making it the most fuel efficient electric ride on earth, or so the press claims.

In the aftermath of their success, the school is currently applying for Guinness World Records validation. Suspiciously sponsored or not, score one for green vehicles.
