Amimon cuts the cord between a 3D TV and 3D Blu-ray player

Amimon cuts the cord between a 3D TV and 3D Blu-ray player Even before 3D TVs and Blu-ray players take off globally, Amimon has already developed a wireless A/V transmission system for 3D playback. A prototype based on 5GHz Wireless Home Digital Interface (WHDI) technology was recently demoed successfully, transmitting full 1080p 3D signals at native 24-frames film speed over the airwaves without any problems. The firm’s solution comprises a transmitter and receiver pair on separate power bricks, which are then connected to the player and TV via HDMI cables. A reference design based on an adapter addon implementation is now ready for commercialization and Amimon is planning to pitch it to Japanese peripheral device manufacturers. Hopefully, we’ll see such products hitting the retail shelves really soon.
