Roberto Cavalli Saint-Honoré – a Cavalli spirit

By Aida on July 15, 2009

Designer Roberto Cavalli has unveiled a made-to-measure service for his affluent clientele. Named Roberto Cavalli Saint-Honoré, the service will offer bespoke handmade dresses created in an atelier above the Rue Saint-Honoré store in Paris – with prices starting at €30,000 for a cocktail dress.

The offering will be small, with no more than 35 dresses being produced each year, and Cavalli’s wife Eva – who launched the collection in Paris on Monday – asserted that this is not the beginning of a couture collection, but rather an extension of the service already offered to celebrities and red carpet clients.
“Clients who want a special outfit from Cavalli now will know that they can obtain it,” she told WWD. The service will offer cocktail dresses, eveningwear and wedding dresses which reflect the Roberto Cavalli spirit.
A visionary project that affirms in a spectacular way Roberto Cavalli’s renewed presence in Paris. In the tradition of the maison de couture, boutique, atelier and house are integrated into one single space, which functions as a complete representation of the Cavalli world.
The boutique opens after three years in the making, in an elegant seven-story building on the corner with Rue Cambon. The address is meaningful: the crossing of two streets that represent the essence of French chic and Parisian style, in the heart of the first arrondissement. Author of the project is the designer, who has been helped by architect and friend Italo Rota, co-author also of the Cavalli Clubs in Florence and Dubai, and of the designer’s Florence studio.

“Paris is the Haute Couture capital of the world, the city of glamour and seduction” says Roberto Cavalli. “My adventure started here, on the Rive Gauche, with a small boutique on Rue du Four. Today I’m arriving on the Rive Droite with an entire building: my own maison, which I christened Roberto Cavalli Saint-Honore. This is my most ambitious and innovative project to date: a spectacular building, in which every single floor represents a different aspect of my creativity, modernity and invention. It’s a celebration of fantasy and beauty, along with the craft and the knowledge that are essential to my work. It is my way to say that only with originality we can fight against conformism and copycats. Everything I do and I have ever done is a declaration of love: for women, fantasy and my work. This maison sums it all up into one”.
At the third floor of the boutique the guests could admire the exposition of vintage pieces “Exotique Magnifique”.

From the opening, for the duration of one month, the third floor of Roberto Cavalli Saint-Honore houses the retrospective exhibition Exotique Magnifique. Thirty pieces, both archival and non, chosen following the fantastic and exotic thread that cuts through Roberto Cavalli’s work.
