Ball Chair

Bubble Chair The Ball Chair - or Globe Chair as it’s called sometimes - was designed by using one of the most simple geometric forms - the ball. Cutting of a part and fixing it at one point Eero Aarnio comes to a remarkable result - a completely unconventional shaped chair:
A Ball Chair is a “room within a room” with a cozy and calm athmosphere, protecting outside noises and giving a private space for relaxing or having a phonecall. Turning around its own axis on the base the view to the outer space is variable for the user and thus he is not completely excluded from world outside.

The DEN of NY

The Den For some New Yorkers, the mental map of Fifth Avenue tapers off in the 90s, just after the last Museum Mile-marker. But for the diehard uptown crowd, the party really doesn’t start until 125th. And by the time you’re at 132nd St, where the crimson-and-brick DEN has been holding court in Harlem since 2004, well, there’s no stopping it. This well-groomed spot (whose name stands for Dining, Entertainment and Nightlife) kicks off the weekend on Wednesday, with a high-profile open mic night that packs the cozy brownstone space booty to booty. DJs on Thursdays and Fridays mean the only way of ensuring elbow room for conspicuous sipping of your Cuervo Gold Supa Fly (or one of the two dozen specialty cocktails, with names like Wu Wu Tang or Uncle Tom Collins) is to reserve a table or return on a quieter night earlier in the week. With its down home flair, uptown flava, and attitude-free staff, DEN makes a welcoming lair for regulars and newcomers alike.
2150 Fifth Ave., New York, NY 10037 between 131st and 132nd Sts. 212-234-3045

Bed Bath & Beyond most popular store in New York

Giant retail chain Bed Bath & Beyond’s sheer volume and enormous depth of inventory runs counter to most diminutive city dwellings. Where to store all the alluring Wamsutta sheets, Frette duvet covers, and Jonathan Adler ceramic bathroom accessories, not to mention the KitchenAid mixer, DeLonghi toaster, and razor-sharp Kyocera knives leaves aside the critical question of how to get all that cool loot into a cab. (Fortunately, BB&B delivers anywhere in Manhattan with summertime delivery to the Fire Island ferry and Hamptons.) True to its name, the store stocks everything you could ever need for your loo or your boudoir. And then there’s the “Beyond.” They’re not kidding. Simple Human and Umbra trashcans, California Closets organizing systems, hundreds of empty frames and framed artworks, along with window treatments, vacuums, and candles galore beckon shoppers. Seasonal items vary from beach and barbecue things in summer, dorm-room accoutrements in August and September, and holiday décor October through December. Amazingly, that’s really just the tip of the iceberg. Do ask for help early and often: The store can be a zoo, and the soaring shelves and narrow, labyrinthine aisles (often thick with SUV-scale shopping carts) don’t help.

Sharp 904SH on japanese market soon

Sharp 904SHVodafone’s Japanese division has introduced a new mobile phone from Sharp that’s packed with hi-tech goodness to make gadget-fans drool. The 904SH features a VGA (video graphics array) resolution screen (480-x-640 pixels, four times the resolution of most handsets) and a face-recognition system that does more than offer a timely dose of ego massage.
You see, a small camera sits underneath the screen that can check the face of the user to make sure they are allowed to use the device - and if you are David Beckham, that includes accessing those precious celeb phone numbers! Face recognition takes just one second and there’s even a series of spoken cues the phone will use when you want to use it in the dark.
It goes on sale in Japan in April. Additional features include the capacity to chat (using Java and text) via Bluetooth with up to eight other users. The device also includes motion-sensing technologies for gaming, a 3.2-megapixel camera with 2x optical zoom. There are also stereo speakers that support 3D surround sound, and it kind of twists around, so you can bend it like Beckham.

2006 Saab Aero X

The Saab Aero X concept harnesses the power of Saab’s aviation and Scandinavian roots to make a unique statement in performance car design. Conceived as a study to explore future design directions, its innovative features preview the development of an enhanced design language that will inspire future Saab products.
As one would expect from Saab, this dynamic two-seater sports coupe breaks with automotive design convention both outside and inside.First, there are no doors…or windshield pillars. That’s because the Saab Aero X adopts a cockpit canopy, just as you would see on a jet aircraft. It offers the Aero X pilot full 180 degree vision, and also facilitates entry and exit from its low-slung cabin.
Thrust for the all-wheel-drive Saab Aero X also comes from a powerplant with a difference. The 400-hp, twin-turbo, BioPower V6 engine is fueled entirely by ethanol, a sustainable energy source that is kinder to the environment by cutting fossil CO2 emissions. The “green power” of this advanced engine gives new meaning to the phrase “performance with responsibility.”

Esprit TAV-L1 - World’s first slider HDTV

The upcoming TAV-L1 television is no ordinary goggle box. See, Sony’s latest HD set has one hell of a swish party trick up its sleeve that’s guaranteed to leave your house guests gawping with tech envy. In audio mode the unit looks like a stylish single-stand speaker, but tap the touch-sensitive front panel and the speaker grill seductively slides down to the floor to reveal a plush 32-inch HD-ready Bravia LCD display! We’ve seen it in action and frankly it’s agonisingly cool.
Plus, the speaker grille is interchangeable so you can customise it to suit your surroundings. Adding an extra sprinkle of chic to the proceedings is the smooth slot-loading CD/DVD player situated in the top of the telly. As for sounds, it’s discreetly equipped with 2.1 stereo, outputting 50w per channel, and is smuggling a hefty 100w subwoofer onboard.
The Esprit TAV-L1 comes in white or black. And if 32 inches of smooth minimalism isn’t enough to woo the arse off you, look out for the 40-inch version that’s slated to launch soon after.
The 32-incher is expected to cost around £4000 and slinks into shops in May.
