iPod snow jacket

iPod-snow-jacketA rather cool-looking gadget for snow freaks is set to pop up on the piste next winter. Spyder, apparently the largest specialty ski-brand in the world, has just announced the launch of a ski jacket with integrated iPod controls. The user simply touches the button on their arm with their glove to change track.
And the best bit? The buttons are all completely made out of fabric pioneered by UK smart fabrics company Eleksen, thus avoiding any embarrassing breakages during major falls - to the equipment in any case. The jacket will be available in limited numbers from September for the rather steep $3000 dollars, although the price does include the jacket, a music and photo iPod, matching trousers, and a custom hanger and garment bag, as well as a unique serial number, for all diehard collectors of ski apparel.

HENK No Suitcase - a luxury and expensive handbag

HENK-No-SuitcaseA Henk is as different from a “wheelie” as a puma is different from a pussycat. Its materials are exotic, its engineering elegant. Each case consists of 500 separate parts (more than 22 of them moving), fashioned variously from red Italian burl, black ebony, horse hair, magnesium, aluminum, titanium, carbon fiber, parachute fabric and the finest leathers. Its mechanisms are smooth, ingenious. Depress an ebony button on the handle, pull up the handle, and two 6 1/4″ diameter wheels emerge noiselessly from louvered doors within the case, like landing gear emerging from an airplane.Dutch uberbrand, HENK, uses the tagline no suitcase. Its HENK case (US$20,000) can be customized using black ebony, magnesium, aluminum, titanium, carbon fiber, parachute fabric and, of course, the finest leathers.

Revive Intensite Volumizing Serum

Wrinkles are not the enemy of youth. More insidious is the subtle loss of facial volume that dramatically ages a face. Volume loss could never be managed with a skincare cream…until now. ReVive introduces its most potent molecule yet, KGF (Keratinocyte Growth Factor). Intensity Volumizing Serum with KGF augments the subtle loss of facial volume and plumps trouble areas (i.e. puppet and frown lines). KGF halts the aging process by turning over dying skin cells 8 times faster and hinders DNA fragmentation. Skin is immediately dewy and vibrant. KGF’s dynamic activity allows for a molecular dialogue with underlying layers of skin that contributes to increased volume after several weeks. Whitening Tri-Complex depigments the skin eliminating blemishes and dark spots associated with aging. Powerful anti-radical defense system shields against pollution, stress and damaging UVB rays. Intensity Volumizing Serum is the optimal solution before considering or in preparation for a surgical procedure.
Made with keratinocyte growth factor, this serum is said to turn over dead skin cells eight times faster than normal skin, plumping trouble areas like frown lines and crow’s feet. Dr. Gregory Brown, ReVive’s founder and president and a plastic surgeon, says he never intended to use his research on epidermal growth factor–published in 1989 in the New England Journal of Medicine–to make a skincare line. “I started making it for my mother and me, then I started giving it to patients, and then a friend of a friend was head of Neiman Marcus and suggested I started making it for the store,” he says.

The Ultimate in lingerie: $15m set

As the festive season draws near and thoughts turn to presents for loved ones, those seeking to add a bit of spice and glamor to their yuletide gift list may well consider buying their wife, girlfriend, lover, partner or mistress some designer lingerie.
And if they’ve got some spare cash sitting around — $15 million of spare cash to be precise — there is really only one designer lingerie set that will fit the bill (or fill the Christmas stocking): The Red Hot Fantasy combo, from U.S. underwear giant Victoria’s Secret.
Heavenly-Star-BraLaunched in 2002 at the opening of the Victoria’s Secret store on Broadway — where it was modeled by Brazilian fashion icon Gisele Bundchen — the Red Hot Fantasy comprises a brassiere and matching briefs.
This is no normal bra and briefs though. Listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the most extravagant and expensive items of underwear ever created, the Red Hot Fantasy is made of finest red satin, and covered with an array of hand-cut gemstones. The bra alone sports over 1,300 stones, including 300 carats-worth of glittering Thai rubies surrounded by sprays of diamonds.
For $12.5 million, for instance — a full $2.5 million less than the Red Hot Fantasy – you could wow your partner with the Heavenly Star Bra, the latter studded with 1,200 Sri Lankan pink sapphires and with a whopping 90-carat emerald-cut diamond nestling seductively between its D-cups (the diamond alone is worth $10.6 million). Matching briefs can be bought for an extra $750,000.

Parfum V1 — The ultimate scent

We humans have always placed considerable value on smelling nice, often going to great lengths, and great expense, to acquire the finest perfumes and fragrances with which to douse ourselves.
V1-The-ultimate-scentThe Ancient Egyptians traveled far and wide in search of scented oils and unguents; Alexander the Great sent emissaries all the way to Oman to procure Arabian incense; while by the 1st Century AD the citizens of Rome were sniffing their way through an estimated 2,800 tonnes of frankincense and 550 tonnes of myrrh annually (in 54 AD the Emperor Nero spent the modern equivalent of $100,000 on scent for a single party.)
Even the notoriously extravagant Nero, however, might have balked at the cost of Parfum V1, a fragrance that is generally considered to be not only the most exclusive in the world, but also by some distance the most expensive.
Blended by legendary English perfumer Arthur Burnham for fashion house Gianni Vive Sulman, the fragrance — suitable for both men and women — was inspired by the Phantom V1 Rolls-Royce. Just as only 173 of the latter were ever made, so Parfum V1 was, on its issue in 1998, limited to 173 bottles, each costing a staggering $84,000.
